The University of Warsaw International Affairs Analysis Society, formerly the Foreign Affairs Society at the University of Warsaw’s Institute of International Relations, has been active at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies since 2017.
Our core activity is the work of our editorial team, which produces analytical articles on international relations. We also regularly review press coverage of major global events. In addition, we organise meetings with experts and academic conferences, providing opportunities for both established experts and students to present analyses in their areas of interest.
We have undertaken a range of projects and events. One of our earliest initiatives, “Open Source Open Mind”, focused on cybersecurity and disinformation. We also cooperated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the project “Polish Aid – An Opportunity for Development”, organising a series of seminars with ministry experts. About the organisation
In 2008, the Institute of Political Science at the University of Warsaw introduced a new degree in Internal Security. We soon found ourselves part of a close-knit group of students eager for new experiences and knowledge. Together with students of Political Science, we decided to establish a student society where we could develop our interests in security and defence. In March 2009, we took an important step towards realising that ambition: the Internal Security Society was officially registered.
The Internal Security Society is independent, open to different worldviews, and unaffiliated with any political movement. Everyone who wishes to join is welcome. We respect one another and listen to every opinion, whether supportive or critical. We want to participate actively in university life and make our presence felt within the university community.
About the organisation
We combine academic activity with social engagement, addressing practical challenges in contemporary defence, including lessons from the war in Ukraine and efforts to counter disinformation. Our strength lies in the diverse experience of our members, who include reservists and members of the Territorial Defence Forces, people working in the defence sector, cybersecurity experts, and humanitarian volunteers.
We organise meetings and academic conferences at the University and help build societal resilience through practical training in crisis response and battlefield medicine. We are also developing our flagship project, the Strategic Analysis Laboratory (LAS). Through this initiative, we conduct interdisciplinary research and prepare specialist reports for external organisations, including the Ministry of National Defence.

About the organisation
The Think Politically society aims to re-examine political science and develop a fresh understanding of its role as an academic discipline and its contribution to explaining how the world and politics work. Through an open-minded approach and reasoned debate, we seek new perspectives both within political science and on the discipline itself.
The society was founded on the principle of remaining open to all sides of academic and political debate, with the aim of developing the fullest possible understanding of different ideas—including those that may initially seem difficult to understand, abstract, or unfamiliar. In this way, we hope to contribute to the development of political science as a discipline and encourage a renewed understanding of the role of political science and political scientists in the contemporary world.
Main research areas
Political theory and contemporary political thought. Analysis of political systems. Political culture and the language of communication. Interdisciplinary approaches to politics, including its connections with history, sociology, and economics.

We also cooperate with diplomatic missions and academic organisations. Through our flagship project, DyplomAzja, launched in 2023, we visit embassies to learn about the work and daily lives of diplomats and discuss relations between Poland and the Asia-Pacific countries they represent. Our visits have included the embassies of Indonesia, Thailand, India, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Japan.
