Dear All,

In connection with press reports, we are providing detailed information and explanations regarding the safety of students and employees of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, which is a priority for both the Faculty and University authorities.

On Thursday, 6 November, in the evening, several insects resembling bedbugs were found in one location of the Auditorium Building. They were removed immediately. The cleaning service immediately cleaned and disinfected the site of the incident. Regardless, on Friday, 7 November, starting at 8:00 a.m., a specialised pest control company conducted a comprehensive inspection of the entire building for the possible presence of insects.

In accordance with the company’s recommendations, preventive pest control was carried out throughout the entire facility on Monday, 10 November. The building was closed for the duration of these activities, and the department’s employees were informed of this fact by email on Friday. At the same time, the information was forwarded to representatives of the Student Council.

In accordance with the company’s procedures and recommendations, the disinfestation will be repeated within 14 days of the first treatment (at a time that does not interfere with teaching activities).

It is worth noting that cases of insects in public buildings (especially those as large as the Auditorium Building, used by thousands of people) are incidental, and their monitoring and control are part of routine maintenance activities carried out by specialised entities.

We assure you that the Faculty takes all measures to maintain safe and comfortable learning and working conditions.

Yours sincerely,
mgr Leszek Szczepaniak
Administrative Director
Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw
