
On behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, Prof. Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk, and the head of the UNESCO Chair in Public and Global Processes of Intangible Cultural Heritage Management, we cordially invite you to a lecture by Prof. Alexandra Xanthaki, UN Special Rapporteur on Cultural Rights, entitled: Has Culture Already Lost to Populism? Defending Cultural Rights in Time of Global Insecurity.
The lecture will take place on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Prof. Baszkiewicz Auditorium in the WNPiSM UW building.
The lecture will be followed by a discussion with the audience and invited guests.
About the speaker
Prof. Alexandra Xanthaki is one of the leading experts in the field of international cultural rights protection, with a particular focus on the rights of minorities and indigenous peoples. She is affiliated with Brunel University of London, where she served as Deputy Head of Brunel Law School from 2008 to 2011 and currently holds the position of Director of Research at the same institution.
In 2021, she was appointed UN Special Rapporteur on cultural rights.
