Warsaw Forum on EU-Indo-Pacific Cooperation Successfully Concludes at the Faculty
The Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, proudly announces the successful conclusion of the Warsaw Forum on EU-Indo-Pacific Cooperation, held on 14–15 April 2025 at the historic Aula Stary BUW. This two-day international conference served as a vibrant platform for dialogue on the European Union’s strategic engagement with the Indo-Pacific region—an area of growing geopolitical and economic importance.
The Forum was held by the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw, under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. It was organized in partnership with the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM), Forum Młodych Dyplomatów, the Student Research Group on Pacific Area States, and the Student Research Group on Diplomacy and Law.
We were honored to welcome a diverse group of distinguished speakers and panelists from Europe and the Indo-Pacific, including policymakers, diplomats, and leading scholars. Notable participants included H.E. Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, who delivered a keynote address; Dr. Samir Saran, President of the Observer Research Foundation (India); Mr. Stavros Petropoulos, Senior Expert for the Indo-Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS); and Mr. Pierre Mayaudon, Co-Director of the ESIWA+ Project.
Throughout the event, participants explored the EU’s evolving role in the Indo-Pacific, addressing critical topics such as maritime and economic security, cybersecurity, hybrid threats, and the EU’s connectivity initiatives in the region. The discussions also highlighted Poland’s perspective and contributions to shaping European engagement in the Indo-Pacific, underlining the strategic importance of this region for European foreign policy.
The Forum culminated in a set of policy recommendations to be submitted to the European External Action Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland. It also laid the groundwork for academic collaboration, including contributions to a forthcoming special issue in the Europe-Asia Journal focused on the EU’s role in Indo-Pacific security architecture.
Hosting this prestigious Forum has been a tremendous honor for our University. We thank all participants, supporting institutions, and organizing teams for their efforts and engagement. The EU-Indo-Pacific Forum has reaffirmed the University of Warsaw’s role as a hub for international academic and diplomatic exchange.
Thank you for being part of this significant occasion.
