Joanna Gocłowska-Bolek

dr Joanna Gocłowska-Bolek – Ph.D. (2006). She works as a scholar at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw. Since April 2020, she has served as Vice-Director of the Centre for Political Analysis and Security Studies at the University of Warsaw. In 2012-2016, she served as Director of the Centre for Latin-American Studies (CESLA) at the University of Warsaw, and in 2013-2016, she sat on the Management Board at the European Council for Social Research on Latin America (CEISAL). Later on, in 2015-2020, she would serve as plenipotentiary of the Head of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland for Latin America. She graduated from the Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Warsaw, and from the European Academy of Diplomacy. Since 2006, she has sat on the editorial board for the “Ameryka Łacińska” quarterly. She has collaborated with the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has delivered papers in Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Havana, Madrid, Mexico City, Paris, and Salamanca. She has been responsible for promoting academic cooperation between Polish and Latin American universities, and for communicating science. She has received the Warsaw Cultural Education Award.

Research interests

Economic and social development of the countries of the Latin America and the Caribbean, political systems in the countries of the Latin America and the Caribbean, problems of economic and social development in less developed countries, climate security, integration processes and relations between the EU and the countries of the Latin America and the Caribbean.
