dr hab. Jarosław Ćwiek-Karpowicz – Habilitated doctor in Social Sciences in the field of Security Science (2019), Doctor of Humanities in Political Science (2010), Associate Professor, member of research and teaching staff at the Department of Internal Security, formerly Head of Eurasian Studies (2013-2014) and Secretary of the Department of Eastern Studies (2005-2009). He received scholarships from the Foundation for Polish Science, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the IVLP programme of the US government. From 2009 to 2016, he worked at the Polish Institute of International Affairs as an analyst and chief specialist, coordinator of the Eastern Europe programme and Head of the Research and Analysis Office. During that time, he carried out many international research projects, including: National and European Governance: Polish and Norwegian Cooperation Towards More Efficient Security, Energy and Migration Policies, financed by the National Centre for Research and Development from Norwegian Funds, or Leaving Polarization Behind? The West, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia between Integration and Re-Nationalization, funded by the German Council on Foreign Relations. Since 2016, he has been in the diplomatic service, first as Economic Counsellor at the Polish Embassy in Riga and then as Economic and Scientific Counsellor at the Polish Embassy in Tel Aviv.

Research interests

Energy security, economic security, EU-Russia and EU-Israel relations, energy and climate policy, economic diplomacy.
