We are delighted to announce the publication of a new article by Dr. Iuliia Eremenko, the project lead of HERIEXPERT, in the prestigious journal Urban Planning. The HERIEXPERT project is being conducted at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies.
The article, titled “Local Voices, Global Goals: Participatory Planning for Localizing the UN SDGs in UNESCO Heritage Site Management,” explores the role of local actors in integrating SDGs into World Heritage Site Management Plans, within a polycentric governance framework. It highlights how SDGs can be localized in the context of World Heritage cities management and urban development. The study offers valuable insights into how SDGs can be effectively localized in the management and urban development of World Heritage cities.
The article, co-authored with project PhD fellow Tymoteusz Kraski, is part of the special issue “The Role of Participatory Planning and Design in Addressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” edited by Hilary Davis (Swinburne University of Technology), Joel Fredericks (The University of Sydney), Marcus Foth (Queensland University of Technology), Glenda Caldwell (Queensland University of Technology), and Callum Parker (The University of Sydney).
