Dr. Iuliia Eremenko, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, recently participated in the 13th International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR). This conference, titled “Cultural Policies in Democratic and Nondemocratic Regimes,” was held from August 19-21, 2024, at the University of Warsaw.
The ICCPR, in association with the International Journal of Cultural Policy, aims to foster high academic standards by hosting a biennial research conference in various global locations. This year’s event focused on the complexities of cultural policy within different political contexts. Dr. Eremenko’s presentation, titled “Local Experts in World Heritage Cities: Understanding their Role in Polycentric Governance of Heritage Sites in Poland,” explored the influence and authority of local experts in managing heritage sites. Her presentation was a part of the session on “Socio-political Aspects of Heritage in Modern World,” chaired by Prof. Jonathan Paquette from the University of Ottawa.
This presentation is the result of research conducted within the framework of the project “Local experts in Polish and German World Heritage Cities: understanding their role in polycentric governance of heritage sites” (project No. 2021/43/P/HS5/02926), which is co-funded by the National Science Centre and the European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 945339.
