Our faculty members have published a research article in Spanish on the contemporary transformation of the international order and the challenges posed by the Peace Council initiative established by Donald Trump. The authors of the text are Dr. hab. Dorota Heidrich and Dr. hab. Jakub Zajączkowski from the University of Warsaw, as well as Prof. Jorge A. Schiavon from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico.
In this article, the authors analyze the proposal to create a new international organization, proposed by United States President Donald Trump, and its potential consequences for the multilateral system and the functioning of international institutions. The article focuses on the question of whether the Peace Council can be recognized as an international organization under international law and how it fits into the evolving structure of the global political order.
It is also emphasized that such solutions may be particularly important for medium-sized and smaller states, whose security and position in the international system largely rely on the stability of international rules and institutions.
The publication also undertakes a broader reflection on the changes taking place in the global balance of power and the growing importance of new actors and complex networks of interdependence. The authors point out that the contemporary international system is not undergoing a simple return to classical power politics, but rather is undergoing a gradual transformation and diversification of forms of cooperation.
This article constitutes an important contribution to the international debate on the future of multilateralism. It also exemplifies research collaboration between scholars from Poland and Mexico and the growing presence of researchers from the University of Warsaw in international academic discussions.
