Call for papers: Interdependencies and Tensions: Politics, Society, Security

On behalf of the organizers, we kindly invite you to submit papers for the student scientific conference “Interdependencies and Tensions: Politics, Society, Security”. The conference will take place on May 27th, 2026 at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw.

The conference aims to create an interdisciplinary space for debate on contemporary threats and challenges of the 21st century. We invite students and members of student research associations to present papers based on original research, theoretical analyses, and case studies.

We particularly encourage submissions addressing the following topics:

Security and International Order:

  •   Changes in the global security architecture;
  •   International security in the Indo-Pacific region – trends and challenges;
  •   The space sector in the context of defense;
  •   Migration as a tool of hybrid warfare.

Democracy, Human Rights, and Political Crises:

  •   Political crises as a factor weakening liberal democracy;
  •   Responses of observers to humanitarian crises;
  •   Artificial intelligence and human rights;
  •   Human rights in the Indo-Pacific in the face of political and humanitarian crises.

Europe in Times of Transformation:

  •   Internal threats to Europe – the condition of the European Union, political and social tensions in member states;
  •   External threats to Europe – relations with global actors, digital threats, disinformation, the use of AI in destabilization activities.

Regional Perspectives and Globalization:

  •   Latin American practices of resistance – social movements, alternative development models, civic mobilization;
  •   Latin America in the context of globalization – economic dependencies, political and social transformations, new forms of regional integration.
