Dr. Łukasz Wieczorek from OBHL at the conference “Investigating and Prosecuting Cases of Human Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation”

On June 6-7, 2023, Doctor Łukasz Wieczorek of the Human Trafficking Studies Center was in Riga, Latvia, where he participated in a conference entitled “Investigating and Prosecuting Cases of Human Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation” organized by the European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and the University of Tartu (Estonia), within the framework of the project – Enhanced Law Enforcement Cooperation and Training on Trafficking in Human Beings – #ELECT THB, (https://heuni.fi/-/elect_thb#911636d0).

During the conference, Dr Wieczorek presented a paper entitled “Identification of trafficked persons among asylum seekers in Poland,” in which he referred to the research he conducted on foreigners who applied for refugee status or international protection between 2012 and 2020 and that the same time were identified as victims of trafficking.
