Report from the conference „Building Resilience Now: Preventing Trafficking in Human Beings in Times of Crisis“

On October 15-16, 2025, at the invitation of the Austrian Ambassador to Poland and the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Professor Zbigniew Lasocik, Head of the Human Trafficking Research Center, participated in the National Conference of the Task Force to Combat Human Trafficking in Austria, entitled “Building Resilience Now: Preventing Trafficking in Human Beings in Times of Crisis.”
As is tradition, the conference was held at the School of International Studies and the International Academy of Diplomacy in Vienna. As always, it was an important international event with the participation of prominent Austrian and European politicians and many distinguished experts. It is regrettable that a national conference on this issue has not been held in Poland for many years.

As is tradition, the date was no coincidence, as October 18th is European Anti-Trafficking Day. There are currently no significant events in Poland to mark this day. The Human Trafficking Research Centre of the University of Warsaw is organizing a modest happening on Krakowskie Przedmieście, the “heroine” of which is POMORAŃCZA – a symbol of the fight against modern slavery.
