On 25 July 2024, the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw hosted the second day of the Seventh International Conference of the World International Studies Committee (WISC) under the theme “International Relations in a World of Flux: Understanding Continuity, Change and Contestation.”
WISC is one of the most important associations bringing together scholars in the field of international relations. Its mission is to support research and education in this area through the organisation of conferences, workshops, and the publication of research findings. It works to promote collaboration among scholars from different countries and academic backgrounds.
The WISC conference is the most prestigious and the biggest event of this kind ever organised in Poland, aiming to gather researchers dealing with various aspects of international relations. Held every three years, it offers a platform for the exchange of knowledge, discussion, and the establishment of scientific cooperation.
Today’s meetings covered a wide range of topics, from theories of international relations to specific case studies and regional analyses. Participants had the opportunity to discuss global challenges such as international security architecture, changes in internal political systems of states and their impact on international relations or the role of new technologies in global politics. Overall, 50 discussion pannels were held, in which scholars from our Faculty also participated, presenting their latest research and analyses. These inspiring sessions facilitated the exchange of views and experiences, contributing to the enrichment of participants’ knowledge and the establishment of new scientific contacts.
The concluded with the plenary session held in Auditorium Maximum. The lecture titled “The Sciences of the International: Allodoxia, Apocrypha, Misology, Misoneism, and Cryptomnesia” was delivered by Professor Siba N’Zatioula Grovogui from Cornell University. His thought-provoking speech attracted a large audience who attentively followed his presentation and participated in an engaging Q&A session.
We extend our gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and contribution to the success of this event.
