Seven Decades of Indian Democracy by Vice President of India

28th of April 2017 Vice president of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari  gave a lecture about Seven Decades of Indian Democracy. Professor of our Institute, Bogusław Zaleski was a host of the meeting.

Mohammad Hamid Ansari worked as an ambassador and served as Vice-Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University from 2000 to 2002. Later he was Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities from 2006 to 2007. He was elected as Vice President of India on 10 August 2007 and took office on 11 August 2007. He was re-elected on 7 August 2012 and was sworn-in by Pranab Mukherjee, the President of India.

During the lecture Vice President brought up a topic of history, development, economic success of modern India. He also mentioned about contemporary indian society challenges and responses during 21st century.

After lecture participants had an opportunity to ask their own questions to our guest. They asked  how India is planning to develop Act East Strategy,  how does illiteracy impact elections and the democratic processes and if the non-allignment movement was important for Indian democracy?
