Just recently, the research team, under the guidance of Dr. Iuliia Eremenko, completed a two-week field trip to Zamość. This field trip was a crucial element of the HERIEXPERT project currently in progress at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies. Among the team members, it’s worth noting that PhD scholar Tymoteusz Kraski played a key role under the supervision of Dr. Eremenko.
This research was conducted as part of the grant “Local experts in Polish and German World Heritage Cities: understanding their role in polycentric governance of heritage sites” (project 2021/43/P/HS5/02926 co-funded by the National Science Centre and the European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 945339).
The HERIEXPERT project’s primary objective is to analyze the construction of local expertise on World Heritage issues in the context of polycentric governance. Dr. Eremenko examines the example of local experts in World Heritage Cities and conducts a comparative analysis of four cities (two in Poland and two in Germany). The selection of these cities, Torun and Stralsund, as well as Bamberg and Zamość, was determined by the specificity of World Heritage sites and the comparability of these pairs of cities.
