Minister Krzysztof Skubiszewski Award for the Best Master’s Thesis on Polish Foreign Policy

The Model United Nations (MUN) Conference “Understanding MIKTA” is behind us!
October 27, 2025

Polish English

The competition is organized in cooperation with the Krzysztof Skubiszewski Foundation. Its aim is to promote among students of Polish universities knowledge about Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski, the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of the reborn Republic of Poland, as well as the principles of the foreign policy he pursued during the period of great political transformation.

The thematic scope of the competition is, however, much broader. The award recognizes the best master’s theses on Polish foreign policy, with particular emphasis on Poland’s European policy and Poland’s place in Europe in ideological, legal-institutional, political, strategic, and economic dimensions. The starting point for the analysis should be the year 1945.

Master’s theses submitted to the competition must be defended by the end of the given academic year (i.e., by September 30) and submitted to the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies (WNPiSM), University of Warsaw, in paper and/or electronic form, together with a short letter of recommendation from the thesis supervisor, by December 15.
Submissions are open to graduates of any field of study, provided the thesis was defended at a Polish university.

One First Prize (diploma and cash award) and two distinctions will be granted. A prerequisite for receiving an award is the high academic quality of the submitted work.

The Competition Committee consists of: Prof. Roman Kuźniar, Ph.D., D.Sc. – Chair, Dr. Agnieszka Bieńczyk-Missala, Associate Professor, Dr. Aleksandra Jarczewska, Dr. Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk, Associate Professor, Prof. Dariusz Popławski, Dr. Andrzej Szeptycki, Associate Professor, Dr. Maciej Raś, Associate Professor.
