Conference Invitation – U.S. Security Strategy as a Zeitenwende for Global Politics

The Department of Strategic Studies and International Security at WNPiSM UW, in cooperation with the Strategic Studies Association, cordially invites you to a national scientific conference dedicated to the analysis of the new U.S. National Security Strategy. The event will take place on January 26, 2026, in the Ballroom of the Tyszkiewicz-Potocki Palace.

The global security architecture is currently undergoing a fundamental transformation. The term Zeitenwende, used in the conference title, suggests that the latest United States strategy represents an epochal turning point that will redefine not only Washington’s priorities but also the entire balance of power in world politics. Experts will analyze the military dimension of the strategy, the critical issue of access to raw materials, and the emerging form of global “power politics.”

Conference Programme

10:00 AM – Opening Ceremony
The conference will be officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, Professor Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk.

10:15 AM – Panel I: Sources and Global Significance of the New U.S. National Security Strategy
This session will focus on the domestic political context of the new strategy, with a particular emphasis on raw material access, the military dimension, and arms control.

• Introductory Remarks: Dr. Aleksandra Jarczewska (UW),  Prof. Kamila Pronińska (UW), Dr. Piotr Śledź (UW).

• Moderator: Prof. Roman Kuźniar (UW).

12:00 PM – Panel II: Implications for Transatlantic Relations and the Security of Poland and Europe
The second panel will address the practical implications of the strategy from a European perspective, examining NATO’s role in U.S. policy and the impact of these shifts on Poland’s security and relations with Russia.

• Introductory Remarks: Dir. Filip Jasiński (MFA), Eugeniusz Smolar (CSM), Associate Professor Kamil Zajączkowski (Dir. of CE UW).

• Moderator: Prof. Agnieszka Bieńczyk-Missala (Vice Dean for International Cooperation WNPiSM UW).

3:00 PM – Panel III: Source Materials for Polish Strategic Culture
The final session will be an internal discussion organized by the Strategic Studies Association.
