Despite the overwhelming sympathy for Ukraine, in terms of foreign affairs Israel is acting cautiously and is trying to promote a diplomatic solution while sending large scale humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This foreign policy stance is embedded in Israel’s National Security and is taking into consideration the capacity of Russia to harm Israel. Israel is also watching the new world order and the nascent international ball game in Europe which Russia is trying to influence. The new international situation calls for different and multi-dimensional analysis which can be applied to empower robust, resilient and effective foreign policy responses.

Ambassador Dr. Itzhak Gerberg is a former Ambassador of the State of Israel to New Zealand, Georgia, and Zimbabwe. He is former non-resident ambassador to Zambia, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Samoa, Tonga, and the Cook Islands .He is also a former Consul General to Bombay (India) and Shanghai (China). Ambassador Gerberg holds a Ph.D. degree in International Politics and obtained his master’s degrees in political Science, national Security and mass communication.

Ambassador Dr. Gerberg has been a lecturer at Tel Aviv University, Haifa University, Galilee International Management Institute, and instructor and a research fellow at the Israeli National Defense College and he is currently teaching at Haifa University.
