Abstract:
What is current understanding of geopolitics? What are EU’s geopolitical determinants? To what extent EU’s security depends on geopolitical conditions? And why Frontex is one of the most important contributors to the EU’s security in internal and external dimension? During my presentation I am about to try to find answers to these questions. Starting from the basics I will explain crucial definitions, inc. geopolitics, EU’s security and Frontex as an EU’s agency. I will present the correlation between geopolitics and security in international sphere. Then I will elaborate Frontex’ role in the EU’s security architecture, its importance in securing Schengen Area and its scope of business regarding operations, analytical activity, and intelligence. Then I will discuss threats posed by external state and non-state entities towards EU’s as well as Frontex’ participation in countering them. In the end I will share my thoughts on EU’s New Pact on Asylum and Migration and its vital role in the ongoing process of European integration and overall EU’s future what I find smooth and gentle invitation to the discussion with the audience.
