On April 24, 2023 students of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations attended an online meeting with Mr. Sergiusz Sidorowicz, Policy and Planning Officer, Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) working at the Department of Peace Operations in the UN Secretariat in New York.
Mr. Sidorowicz gave a talk about “New Trends in Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration”, during which discussed evolution of UN policy towards DDR, UN approach to DDR and case studies of UN support to DDR in Central African Republic, Libya and Cameroon. After the presentation he responded to the numerous students’ questions regarding, among others, Libya peace process, evaluation of impact and effectiveness of the UN support to DDR and employment opportunities in the United Nations.
The meeting was attended by the students participating in the seminars of: Security Arrangements in Peace Processes: Theory and Practice and Multilateral Peace Operations: Theory and Practice.
