On March 9-10, dr hab. Jakub Zajączkowski, head of the Department of Regional and Global Studies at our Faculty and Dean’s Representative for International Research Projects and International Cooperation, made a study visit to the Department of Government and International Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University.
During the visit, he met with Prof. Alistair Cole, Head of Department and prof. Krzysztof Śliwiński, Program Director of Mater of Arts in Global Society. During the conversation, it was agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding and Student Exchange Agreement between the Faculty and the Department would be signed within a month. Student exchange will start in September 2023 or January 2024.
In addition, from April the exchange of academic staff will begin. In the second week of May, a seminar with prof. Jean-Pierre Cabestan of HKBU. From the end of May to mid-June. A 15-hour course on European Union Politics and Policies: Theories and Applications for students of the Faculty will be conducted by prof. Krzysztof Sliwinski.
At the end of May this year there will be a meeting with Prof. Krzysztof Śliwiński for all interested students about the exchange with HKBU. Double diploma talks will begin in April. In addition, from September researchers from the Faculty will go to HKBU for internships.
During the visit to Hong Kong Baptist University, a seminar on The Indo-Pacific region in the EU’s Strategy was held with the participation of researchers, PhD students and students from the Department of Government and International Studies, during which dr hab. Jakub Zajączkowski presented the results of his research on the EU strategy in the region.
During the visit to Hong Kong, there was also a meeting between the researchers of the Faculty and Aleksander Dańda, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Hong Kong. The meeting was attended, in addition to dr hab. Jakub Zajączkowski, visiting Hong Kong Polytechnic University: Dean of the Faculty, dr hab. Daniel Przastek and Dr. hab. Maria Theiss and dr hab. Bartholomew Pielinski. The meeting was also attended by prof. Krzysztof Sliwinski. During the conversation with the Consul, the Faculty’s plans for strengthening scientific and didactic cooperation with Hong Kong universities were presented.
