We invite you to a discussion of the research article “From Margins to Mastery: International Relations and the Future of Political Science”, published in Springer Nature Social Science (SN Social Sciences).

The paper offers a critical yet constructive reassessment of political science in light of the growing relevance of International Relations (IR). It argues that the traditional, state-centric and compartmentalized frameworks of political science are increasingly inadequate for analyzing the complexity of contemporary global dynamics.

The author highlights how IR has evolved into a more integrative and conceptually rich discipline, capable of bridging the local and the global, the material and the normative. The article also introduces the concept of planetarity as a forward-looking analytical framework that challenges the anthropocentric and territorial assumptions of traditional political science.
